Santa’s Mailbox in Downtown Kirkland

The Kirkland Parks & Community Foundation and Old St. Nick teamed up in 2016 to make sure that local boys and girls have an extra magical holiday season. Kirkland is well known for its enchanting holiday celebrations and Christmastime is no exception. With a tree lighting ceremony, caroling, Christmas ships and a visit from Santa, people flock downtown to take part in the magic.

In true holiday spirit, local volunteers have donated their time and talent to building & decorating a large mailbox for letters to Santa. The mailbox is installed downtown every year the day after Thanksgiving so children will be able to bring their letters full of Christmas hopes and wishes to send to none other but Santa Claus at the North Pole. The letters are delivered to “Santa’s Elves,” or local volunteers organized by the Kirkland Downtown Association (contact them), who donate their time writing a personalized response to each and every child who participates before the box “disappears” just before Christmas.

Mailbox location: on the corner of Kirkland Avenue and Lake St by the fountain in front of the Bank of America.
